heres the deal....last night i tried to put my reverse glow guages in and now my speedo and tach don't work right....when i give my 02 wrx gas the tach goes up but kinda ticks like its getting hung up on something....but its not hitting anything...i have to pull the needles off to get the stupid thing in there so something is screwed up...anyone had this problem
thats not what i'm looking for....i need to know if whats goin on is fixable or do i need a new gauge cluster and if i do what fits....i've been reading and ppl say they just had to get them recalibrated but they say that with no explination of whats wrong ....would getting them recalibrated help my problem
OK take a deep breath...it's ok.
You gotta keep pulling off the needles and reinserting them at different points (kind of winding them too) to get it to the right place.
It's a PITA but you can do it. Hard to explain but just keep trying to pop the needle in at different points along its rotation and winding it back to the resting spot (spot it lies on when car is off). It takes a while but you'll get it.
For me...my friend inserted the tach needle at the 8k RPM point and wound it back to the resting spot.
P.S. Normally you shouldn't take off the needles but if anything I hope you only took off the Tach one because that is easier to check then the speedo needle. The tach one you just rev your engine and compare the sweep and make sure that it rests at your usual idle speed. The Speedo will make you have to drive the car with someone pacing you at the right speed.
