i used a hair dryer, some dental floss and a paint safe solvent. get each letter good and hot with the dryer, peel them off with the dental floss and use the solvent to clean the residue. Then finally rinse with soap and water, use a rubbing compound and a coat of wax. Done in an hour.

i did that a month ago. it was awsome. clean.. mm...

take some strong stuff goo-off. something stronger than goo-gone. just squirt it the emblems. Take some fishing wire (floss is weak) and work at it slowly. when finished, it'll leave a lot of ucky glue. it's gross. took me a lot of time to clean it completely. Dont' use your nails!!!!! you'll scratch your car. like i did. GL

i just used fishing line, sawed between the letters and trunk and the letters would pop right off. getting the glue off...i just used my fingers and would rub it for a very long time. this hurt but it worked. i would suggest heating it up because i'm sure it would be easier than my method. it's a very clean mod to the car.

come to think of it i too used fishing line. the monofilament won't scratch anything either.

I tried this about a month ago on my 1995. It didn't come off as smoothly as i had expected. It's real easy to slide the "S" off, but i spent about an hour for just the first letter getting the gunk under it off. I'm wonder if after 10 years it just gets melded to the car or something. :-/

i think that's normal because i had the same problem too. i just re-heated the goop and rubbed vigorously until it peeled off.

If it's a "real" heat gun, you might want to control the heat enough so that you don't bubble the paint. I remember reading somewhere that a standard hair dryer is enough heat to make it happen.

I used 3m adhesive/wax remover. I sprayed it on the letters, let it soak in for about 10 - 20 min. Used some fishing line to get the letters off, then sprayed more the 3m stuff. let it soak for about 20 min. Use you fingers to get the gummy stuff off, or a soft rag.

Just out of curiosity, how did you "let it soak". I would have loved to have done that, but when my trunk is open, the back is still tilted about 30º degrees or so and the goo-gone or whatever runs off the trunk.
