Arrow Removing stock rear view mirror... puzzled

I am getting an auto dimming mirror in 2 days, so I need to figure out how to remove my stock mirror... I saw a couple sites that tell you you have to turn the mirror 90 degrees then pull? Well... I turned the mirror 90 degrees and nothing, there is a ball joint from the mirror to a shaft then there is another ball joint from the shaft to the sticky part on the windshield...

How do you get this off?

Thanks :-)

I did this just a few weeks ago. . . .

What you are gonna want to do is take the piece that appears to be attatched to the window and turn it 90 degrees. . . That is difficult and you have to put a lot of power to get it sideways. Once sideways slide up and it comes out. Leave the clip in there because once you take that one off I do not believe they give you another. If you need Auto Dimming instructions feel free to ask. Good Luck

Rotating it pops it out of a groove in the button on the window, then just slide it down. Look at the link above.

Why do you have to change out the spring clip? Once you remove the mirror is it broken or does it not fit the new mirror...

Thanks,

I saw no reason to change it either. The old one looked fine but since I had a new one I used it.

Excellent! I can't wait ! I will post some pictures once I get it. Is it me or does it always seem that when cars are behind me they are BLINDING me... I might be too used to my dad's jeep... but it seems like anymore almost every car out there hurts my eyes if it is behind me... My windows are not tinted either...

Thanks :-)

Great stuff, got the mirror on and did all the wiring. I didn't get instructions with these but if I hold the right button down it will say ZONE 1-11 what does this mean? If I hold the far left button it comes up with something else on the little display like CAL what does this mean?

I held my super bright LED keychain at the mirror and it did not get darker than how it is now... It's like a shade of blue right now... I held the led all over the mirror and on the front of it, and it did not change... Where are the sensors at to change it? I just want to make sure that it works... I also held the back of the mirror and it doesn't seem to change...weird...

Thanks :-)
