Receiver Hitch for 2005 WRX Sportwagon
Receiver Hitch for 2005 WRX Sportwagon
Seen pictures of 2004 hitches from Reese, Draw-Tite, and Da'Lan and a 2005 hitch from Curt and seen a 2004/2005 Subaru one in person. Subaru is the only
one who makes the wiring to fit the stock wiring harness and theirs
looks the best in the box but on the car, who knows. It looks like the Hidden Hitch and Da'Lan fit mostly behind the bumper cover and the Subaru fits under the bumper so it may show more. I haven't seen the instructions for the Reese but the Draw-Tite and the Da'Lan may only work with the muffler that was on the 2004, not the 2005. I think my muffler is bigger and has a hanger on either side but the Draw-Tite and Curt instructions show only one on the left. The Subaru kit price is double the others and the price of the Subaru wiring kit by itself will buy you the whole kit from the other companies. I hate to splice when a cleaner
installation is available though. The other bigger problem with the Subaru kit is that it calls for a lot of trimming of the bumper cover while the Da'Lan and Curt call for very little and the Draw-Tite calls for none. (Subaru has to be kidding!) Still waiting for Reese, Draw-Tite and Da'Lans offering for the 2005.
Anyone out there have any advice?
