problem with HID Mcculloch

was wondering if any of you guys have installed the Mcculloch 6000k HID kit on the 04 wrx before. I was installing the HID kit last night and i noticed that the power plug doesn't fit the HID ballast. the ballast if way bigger than the stock headlights harness. i'd appreciate any info.

From what are I understood previously is that the seperate ignitor/ballasts sets are inferior. Care to shed some light on why the seperate units are better?

post mor pics of your kit. i installed a similar kit in my 04 and what i did was use the harness from the bulb used that connector and wired it into my HID kit. then i just pluged the kit into teh factory harness and everything was good. IF the lights dont turn on try reversing the polarity (i know this sounds crazy but it worked for me). i had it wired pos to pos, and neg to neg. it didnt work so i reversed and wired pos to neg and neg to pos and it all worked ok. (yes i did have it correct and i know what im doing) rep from company told me about this.

p.s. if you need pics then let me know and ill try to get some.

whats the kits name? if its from hid express then teh kit will have to be installed the same way i mentioned. actually most kits will have to be installed like that . plus im not worried about a 10$ headlight harness (harness you cut to make it plug and play).

Hm.. there has to be a set of instructions somewhere! agh!

it's really too bad that they didn't make these things universal. And Subaru isn't making it any better with their funny wiring.

im sure there are ways to make new plugs. haha. i don't think mine fits the ballast either. i hope it does. i lost the extra harness they gave me.

hey guys. i did some searching and came up with this.

http://www.skivvies.com/photos/HID_Connectors

might just give some of us a better idea of what's going on.
im trying to find some harnesses that might help the process.

i'll try Kragen or autozone next week.

i think i know how to do this.

i test fitted my kit yesterday and it was a pain in the butt. Go to subaru and get the plug. Basically, i suggest making your own harness. It'll be a lot nicer than saudering directly into the factory wiring. This way you can just throw it out and go back to stock really easier once your kit dies. anyhoo... i don't know if they sell just the socket/plug, might have to get whole cap assembly. I'm guessing they cost around 10 bucks. I'm going to buy some this weekend and i'll tell you guys how much they are.
