PnP harness for EDM STI Leveling Motors Install
PnP harness for EDM STI Leveling Motors Install
Link to pics of my install of leveling harness. Enjoy..... Pat
The install was pretty straight foward. This is how I did the install. Similar to the instructions but a little different.
1. I took off the grill and took out headlights. Took off the black plastic air intake to allow access to pass side headlight.
2. I took the harness and started at the driver side light and then ran it through the hole where the headlight sticks through the sheetmetal ( there is plenty of room ) and down inbetween radiator and bumper.
3. If you run your hand along the inside of the bumper you'll feel the "bumper bar" and just below that you'll feel the plastic of the bumper (this is the top of the lower opening on the bumper) There is a perfect space between the "bumper bar" and the plastic to stuff the harness into and it will stay nice and snug and out of sight.
4. Next run the harness up into the same hole on the pass side light and connect connector.
5. Back at thr drivers side light connect the connector and I ran the res of the harness between the battery box and engine ( forgot pic of this ) following one of the many hoses right to the grommet on the firewall.
6. Now here's were things get a little tricky. I have a strutbar and inorder for me to reach the rommet the strut bar would come off. After opening a lot of room. I still had a tough time fitting my hands in there. I also have the boost hose to my boost gauge going through so it would be a snug fit and I did not want to compromise the boost hose soooooo... I took the intercooler off. The instructions don't say to but i think I would still be there trying to get the harness through the grommet and I have very little patience ( you may be different ). Taking the intercooler off was really no big deal just a little tricky getting it back on. With the intercooler off it opened up a whole new world!!!!
7. I taped all the little connectors into one and pushed them through the grommet wit moderate force ( remember my boost hose is there so it's doable but snug ). I then took the ground wire and pushed it through and then the "add a fuse" minus the fuse. It looks like it would be a pain to push that awkward shaped thing through but it was no problem. I then fed the slack through and went around the deivers side foot well to see what happened.
8. It was right there perfectly placed at the top of the gas pedal. I fed the harness through and over the top of all the other harness in there and it kept it high enough and snug to where you really don't need to zip tie it t anything. There is no chance of it coming down or moving much.
9. I put the grond to one of the bolts above the brake.
10. I took out the "illumination fuse" and placed the "add a fuse". The coin tray when closed fits snugly against this when closed. It closes but might pop open with full change and god sized bump. No problems with with mine though and it's pretty full.
11. I then took the rest of the harness and fed it through the blank all the way to the right by your left knee.
12. I attached all the (6) little spade connectors to the back of the switch according to the supplied pic on instrusctions and snapped in the plug.
13. I then put the intercooler back on. ZIip tied the harness from the grommet to the drivers light and started the car. Headlights immeadietly adjusted and wala!!!!
13. This had nothing to do with the excellent harness but my pass. side light seemed to go off track. Anybody have any ideas on an easy remedy. I have to fuss with it tomorrow after work. I think I had it adjusted to far one way.
14. Replaced headlights and grill and then palyed with the switch. Pretty cool. 4 levels of adjustment.
This was a great product. It was very proffesional looking. All the splices were heat shrunk and the entire harness was encased inside the black plastic conduit. Size was spot on with a littleleft to spare. Connectors to headlights were oem. Switch was oem and fit perfectly. Switch illuminated. The install looks factory and the best part about it is I didn't hack anything. Just plug and play!! George is a great guy to talk, answered my emails quickly and makes a beautiful harness

Did see it in your thread but where did you buy this from and how much?
This seems a lot better to me then jerry rigging something that might not work when hooking into $800 headlights :-p
Can't beat plug and play :-)
Thanks,
-Nigel
