As I watch my GReddy lip fall apart shard by shard, I am looking into a REAL polyurethane replacement. I'm curious to see what the STi V2 will look like in white. Sure, I've seen it on other cars, but as I learned with the GReddy, things always look differnt on a white WRX than with the silver or blue it seems to me.

OT: just wondering... is the Greddy Fiberglass? I was thinking of getting one, but not if its going to fall apart every time i scrape.

 

the greddy seems to be made out of ABS plastic. I've actually had fiberglass kits that were stronger than the greddy.

 

GReddy maintains it is polyurethane. But its the most brittle polyurethane I've ever seen. I called them up:

Me: Hey is the '02 WRX front lip made out of polyurethane as you advertise because it is extremely brittle

GReddy: Well you cannot make an aero part too soft or it will just buckle and not do its job.

Me: well sure there has to be a middle ground. If its too hard it would just snap under any durress... like mine did and many others on WRXs that I know of. So is it made out of polyurethane or not?

GReddy: There is no middle ground. It must be as stiff as possible to do its job.

Me: is it polyurethane, or not?

GReddy: It must be as stiff as possible to do its job. It cannot be too soft

Me: *laugh* so you're just going to give me the run around. Its not polyurethan is it?

GReddy: I've told you, it must be as stiff as possible to do its job.

Me: OK, well don't expect your WRX users to buy GReddy products, areo parts or otherwuse. Bye.

And that just about word for word what happens.

Conclusion?

GReddy SUCKS

Don't buy this lip unless you live in a perfectly flat world with no large potholes or curbs or otherwise. Mine cracked by taking the whole weight of the car in a rain filled pothole in the middle of the night.

Oh, and my friends tell me fiber glass is more durable than the crap that GReddy's lip is made of.
