OEM Leather into MY03 WRX Sedan
Just picked up a set for CHEAP from an old friend who sold his wrx with only ~5,000 miles on it. Can't turn down a good deal. Same seats as stock 02-03 but wrapped in leather by Subaru, not Katzskins or anything. One change, the side bolsters are a lot stiffer. Don't mind the dirtiness, I reconditioned them later. In-car pics tomorrow.
Now anyone wanna buy my MINT stock CLOTH 03 seats (15,000 miles) for cheap?

Hello... I'm showing them off and mentioning that the old CLOTH seats are for sale. If you are interested in the CLOTH seats (leathers are not for sale), then just PM me.

they don't mine are covers thru my brother in law we went with a company out of canada. Most of the dealerships i think have contracts with upholstry companies. so when someone goes into the dealership and want leather option the dealer calls them up and has them eigther make seat covers or get seat covers thru different companies. ex katzin, nw autoleather. idon't quote me on this but i will ask my brother-in-law about this tomorrow and i'll let you know.

ok i'll give you an example of how most dealers do their upholstry deals and also how most upholstry shops work. say you come into a dealership (anyone for that matter) and you say i would like to have leather in the car. they call up the upholstry shop and say we have a customer that wants leather option in their car. the shop says ok i'll order it (most shops order kits cuz it is far cheaper to have someone else to make it). you figure for a hide it would cosr any where from 300-500 dollars for a hide, now thats not counting the dyed hides, that costs more so now you have 600 dollar in a hide and now you have to spend 10 to 30 or 40 hours sewing it. you figure it is about another 700 dollars for you time, materials ie razorblades, thread, listings. by the time you are done you have 1,500.00 in just the seat covers not to mention a whole 8 hours to install them depending on the make. ok so now that the shop ordered a kit from a company installed it you now have a price of (1,150 what we install wrx leather interior w/o embroidery) in the whole install. see now that you have saved 400+ dollars on the interior kit. but here is the real kicker when that car is returned to the dealership they will hit you for another 1,000 or more most people think well thats not bad for leather but you be the judge of that. just some info that i might give to you guys wanting that option in your car so want that upgrade. also becareful if you do get leather kits from some companies cuz the dye that they us is not dyed all the way thru. that means the surface is only dyed and when you drag yourself across the side bolster and have something sharp or rivits on pants may scratch the leather (surface dyed) and now you have to look at that scratch forever (cannot be fixed without replacing that section). also some companies use less leather to cut costs. for example the backs of my seats are vinyl (no biggy cuz you don't see it, but some companies use the vinyl for the for the side bolsters and head rests so what do you get when they do that? that material wears faster & fades quicker. Here is another example of fast wearing material (perforated) anytime you put holes in anything it makes it weaker right; well it goes the same way with that material. if anyone has any questions about more on leather upgrades and interior stuff pm or email me> hope this gives you some knowledge on leather upgrades. sorry for the long post.
