Cool My New Project>>>Need Advice

Hey Guys

I recently bought a 2000 Impreza RX and am in need of some assistance. Does any1 know whether a 2000 WRX bonnet will fit easily onto the RX bonnet, are they the same dimensions?. How much are the WRX bonnets new/second hand? Thanx

Your RX has the normally aspirated 2.0 right? I would expect it to share the steel hood with the L and LS models. Luckily, the aluminum (I bet you read that aluminIum ) hood from the WRX will fit too with no modification. Since you called it a bonnet, I have no idea what a second hand one would cost you where you live, but www.subaruparts.com in Tacoma, Washington sells them new for about $415 last I checked. Your local dealer can get them too of course.

Smile Thanx dude

It is naturally aspirated 2.0, i thought it would fit but wanted to double check. Im from Australia (the reason i use the term bonnet what Ls model are you refering to? the liberty?.

One more question is whether the turbo from the WRX is easily installed onto my car or whether i have to change various components in the engine.

Last question is whether the two engines of the WRX and RX are identical engines, although one is turbo charged?

Thanx for your help dude

Glad to help about the bonnet question. The LS is sold in some countries, but apparently not Oz. You would need to change a lot of things to turbo your engine. It's much simpler, cheaper, easier, and more reliable to just swap in a factory turbo EJ20. There is very little that is the same between the two. Probably not much more than bore/stroke, and maybe head castings.

Wink Thanx again

I thought so, in oz we have the liberty and impreza but not in the Ls form. thanx for the info, im going to change a few things and ill post them here as i progress. Firstly im changing the muffler to a custom one, then tinting the windows, followed by changing the boonet and putting a pink badge at the front. And later hopefully some mags and lowering. What are the restrctions like up there in the USA with concern to modifying and exhausts?? and how many subarus are going around where u live?

There are lots of subarus running around, they're so common now that i can drive for a few km and i'll most definately see one or two.

Regarding restrictions, we don't get trouble for modifying most things, but when it comes to exhaust the law likes to come down on us like we're promoting gang violence.

Cool Same Here

Its the same over here, 1 question for you is whether that the badge at the front of the RX grille can be taken off easily without removal of the entire grill, i want to put a pink badge in its place. What subaru do you own?
