Momo race air shift **** installation
This is how I installed mine and it worked out well... I did a fair amount of research in the forums and this is what I found out:
Paulie made an adapter that essentially functioned exactally like the stock one but fit the Momo shift ****. (take off your stock **** and you will see what I'm talking about)
Personally I think it was/is a great idea, but I kinda like the more stock look of the shift boot going all the way up to the ****, like the stock piece. With the momo **** and the Paulie adapter it will look pretty close to stock, but I didn't like the look of the lower metal piece.
I prefer the boot to come all the way up to the leather piece, so I just installed it just like the instructions said but I DID NOT put on the bottom metal assembly of the ****. Then with some firm uppward pressure I slipped the boot over end of the **** as you can see in the picture below it looks pretty close to stock.

For more precautions you can take off the center console and wrap a sliced piece of radiator type hose around the actual metal shifter right underneath the shift ****... then zip-tie it a few times or until it's bomber...
Update: After having this setup for a month now, I'm pretty happy with it. Sometimes the top of the leather boot bugs me a bit, (You can see in the picture that the boot is a bit wider than the base on the ****) but that all depends on how you hold the **** when shifting.
My $.02...

In the install instructions they install the lower metal piece... I didn't because I like the more stock look. If you install that lower metal screw-on piece you have 3 options the way I see it...
1) Let the boot hang loose under the **** and just let the natural stiffness of the leather close the gap.
2) See if can still get a "paulie" adapter... I heard that he was still selling them, but also heard that he has been AWOL for a month or so (not sure if this really holds water or not)
3) Fashion some sort of thingy (i.e. a piece of rubber hose and some zip-ties just like in the link above) that fits OVER the actual metal shift lever and under the shift boot. This should hold the boot tight to the **** and is way more bomber than say rubberbands...
Hope this helps...

Momo make a boot that screws on to the bottom of the ****... If you search around these forums you can find an install thread with pictures...

You know what else you can do? Wrap some electrical tape right underneath the metal part of the **** thick enough for the ring on the boot to hold up. This way you will see the metal part of the momo ball yet not see the metal rod of the shifter.

Hey monkey boy in that link of the install instruction, why did you have to take out the whole middle part just to install a shift ****. I don't understand why you couldn't just unscrew the original shift **** and put the rubber thing on, then put the metal part of the momo ball on, then the momo ball, screw it in and screw the metal piece together. You could also put the rubber thing on it to hold the boot in place too. I dunno....seems like too much work for a very simple install.

I used the metal finishing ring so I was unable to easily get a piece of hose around the lever. Instead I used 3 zip ties. The more you use the better. The little tabs on the zip ties seem to keep it up. If you ever need to tighten the ****, its also easy to get it down again.
Hey guys,
I'm back (and not AWOL), he he he. I was deployed to Operation IRAQI FREEDON since February.
Anyhoo, the adapters are still available. For more information, please send an e-mail to

I kept the aluminum collar on mine. What I did was remove the plastic collar thats glued inside the shift boot. Then... jammed the limp boot through the momo screw-on collar... voila. No adapter needed. You just gotta hold your boot still while screwing on the momo piece or your boot will twist.
