Looking for mudflaps
Anyone know where you can find some nice plastic molded mudflaps for the WRX? I don't want those rubber sheet looking ones. I did a search, and nobody really said anything about it. I saw one with these in it, but they look flat too me, like the rubber sheet mudflaps.
I want mudflaps that look like the ones on this car.

I bought mine from my local subaru dealership, but they weren't for a WRX. I assume they should have some for the WRX, but I'm not 100% sure.
Mine cost me $80 I believe.
Also, they were black plastic, not painted.

I have the Prodrive ones on my WRX wagon - they don't come painted so if you want to paint them figure that into the cost as well - ran $100 or so for me at a local body shop. The flaps can be purchased from Arne at www.subietech.com for $180 plus $16 shipping. Not exactly the cheapest alternative, but they fit perfectly and look great!
i have a pair in red with 2 metal plate near the bottom, and on the plate said subaru sti...

That's not bad, however that's exactly what i don't want. I'm looking for some molded ones like this. Unfortunately for me, Prodrive doesn't have them for the 04, and the guy at Subietech doesn't think they will make them at all.

I would assume all you would need would be a heat gun and maybe some plastic cutters.
I'VE NEVER DONE THIS SO DON'T TAKE MY ADVICE IF YOU DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH IT.
I was planning on putting on side skirts onto my Legacy L and I have the splash guards molded for Legacys without sideskirts (a similar problem as to what you would face putting the RS splash guards onto a WRX).
Anyways, my buddy suggested that all you would really need would be a heat gun to heat up the corner of the splash guards where they meet the side skirts before applying the splash guards. If heated enough, this would hopefully allow the splash guard to mold to the shape of the side skirts. And as said before, you'd only have to do this to the front splash guards, the backs should mount up just fine.
You could also trim the splash guards a little bit before applying the heat gun, to reduce the ammount of melting platic you'll have to deal with later.
I'd probably take off the side skirts, temporarily mount the splash guard up in the wheel well, then sort of hold the side skirts up to the splash guard, and kind of eyeball how much of the splash guard needs to be melted away (a white-out pen may be helpful here, but make sure to clean off the white-out before applying the heat gun). Put the sideskirt back on. Cut away any excess splash guard you see (don't cut all the way up to the line), and wipe off the white-out if you applied any. Then see if you can use the heat gun to make the splash guard fit and have the screw holes line up.
But, like I said, I haven't done this before, so I don't know if you'll have to cut anything or not. You might have to, you might not.
As said above by DrD, without time, patience and the correct tools, this may not end up looking very good. But, with the correct tools, time and patience, it may end up looking exactly like what you want.

The rears go on with out a bit of problem. The fronts, well.......not as easy but it sure can be done. First I made a cardboard template of the side sill and sat down with the dermal to cut the Splash Guard. Second I cut a small access hole in the bottom of the factory side sill (can't see unless you lay under the car) to get the third mounting hole for the Flap. Two hours later I have a set of molded Splash Guards from the Subie RS that use the three stock mounting points in the front and look like they were made to fit from SIA.
