light adjustments
Here's a stupid question; How do you adjust the position of the headlights and fog lights on an 03 legacy L? I see one screw with a hex head down in the corner behind the headlight and in the upper opposite corner is a white cylindrical plastic piece about an inch long that spins but doesn't do anything.
I checked the owners manual and all it says it consult your subaru dealer They give all this info on changing your oil, diff fluids, etc., but nothing on what should be a simple DIY adjustment
I have a feeling adjustments for the fog lights are behind the plastic covers, but I'm not sure how to remove the covers.
Anybody done this before on a legacy?
P.S. I don't plan on adjusting my lights so they blind or annoy oncoming drivers, right now they are pointed too low and I don;t want to drive an hour to the dealer, wait an hour or more for my car to be pulled into the shop, argue with them about the lights not being adjusted correctly, and then being charged $100 or more for something that's "a maintenance item and not covered under warranty".

I thought that the headlights were adjusted with the long screw next to each headlight, they move the globe left and right, its probably something that u cant see. Try it at night with your headlights on and play around with em see if the light moves. As for the fog lamps i wouldnt have a clue, but im guessing that they cant be adjusted the same way the headlamps can cos they are just add-ons, unless they can be moved around on their mounts.

There is one screw with a hex head down in the lower corner of the headlight housing. I assume that moves them horizontally. I moved them about 1/2 turn either way in my garage and didn;t see any vertical movement. Its hard to notice horizontal movement when in the garage, I'll have to try it out in the driveway. But vertical movement remains a mystery. I assume it must be the white cylindrical piece of plastic in the upper corner of the housing, but it just spins freely. Do I need a 'special' tool? Something that only dealers would have (and charge a lot for)? Or maybe I should break the plastic piece to get at the shaft that its mounted on and hiding?
