Interior Lighting
I put a couple of blue neon strips under the dash, as well as a blacklite on the windshield in front of the headliner. That way, the interior of the car glows, yet it isn't distracting.

neons under the driver and passanger seat. gives off the glow i think your looking for. good luck. iv done this before (however now the lights are disconnected). Pretty easy install. all you need is a pair of wire strippers, a switch, and a few butt connectors.
good luck.
10 inch neons would fit almost perfect under the seats.

I've replaced my stock interior lights with ones from PIAA.. wow what a difference. With all 3 lights on, the car no longer feels like a cave. Doesn't cost much either. Not sure what else you can do to give you more light other than that, especially if you dont want to be rice-tastic (dont blame you..). Only other thing I can tell you is to invest in a cig-ligher powered map reader light or something. You'd have to be pretty hard up for that tho.
