how to take out silver plastic bar next to cupholder?

I've seen it done several times. As I recall you do indeed have to cut into the plastic piece you are referring to. Try searching scoobymods.com, I recall seeing a few different variations on there.

1. yes - the part you are referring to, along with everything which surrounds those two vents, is a single piece - you need to cut.

2. shouldn't be a problem

3. I have never seen one - people mount turbo timers all over the place, though - the ash tray and change pocket are two other popular locations.

Did you know that that silver piece next to the cup holder is for transit passes in Japan? On the highways, toll passes often have lanes with a scanner that scans a card that's held in this silver piece in order to collect tolls. It's like FasTrak here in the States, but mo' bettah
Anyway, back to your question: I've seen several people place a turbo timer here, and indeed you DO need to cut into this piece. I haven't heard of any condensation issues from the AC though...

I thought about buying it but im not sure the left side would fully expand. It might hit the cruise control lever.
