How do u remove side dash vents?
I have a 99 OBS and would like to remove them to paint. I can't seem to get it tho. Is there a trick? I've tried prying with a screwdriver and taking off the top vent (that defrosts side windows) and have had no succes Any help, experience or suggestions would be great. I have a service manual, but its a piece of crap, and hasn't helped me... Unless Im looking in the wrong section. Again any help'd be great. Thanks

i don't know about the outback for sure but if they're the same as a WRX (the round vents) then you can pull them out after popping off the trim ring. Alternatively if you want to do it "the right way" you have to take off the lower dash, unbolt the fuse box and crash plate, take out the instrument cluster, then remove the 3 bolts holding the vent in.
When I installed my boost gauge in my vent, I just pulled the sucker out.

its bolted in?????
wow, I figured I was just missing twisting or pushing it the right way, so some clip was holding it in.
In my car the vents are actually squareish, but we shall see...
I shall try to see if I can find the bolts next time I get a chance
Why doesn't the stupid service manual have anything :insert string of explitives:
Thanks for the reply!!!
