I was trying to take out the pieces of my center console in my '99 2.5 RS, and the top one won't go. i don't mean the dashboard, but the trim pieces the run between passenger and driver. i got out the ones surruonding the e-brake, the stick, and the stereo, but i can't get out the piece surruonding the two vents and the little compartment on top. i took out every screw i could find, and pulled reasobly hard. i couldn't find any other clips or screws, but there's gotta be some. so if anyone has some insight on how to get this piece off, it would be much appreciated. speed safely.

this is from Dave of NASIOC forum (btw this is for wrx so i dont know if it will work out not...)
In order to get to the instrument panel, you have to unscrew the two screws that are at the top of the front bezel. Once you have that out, you'll see three more screws that you have to take out: One at the top center, and two on the bottom sides. Depending on whether or not you have the column mounted boost gauge, it'll be very tough to take out if you do (it blocks easy access and removal) Before you're able to pull the whole instrument panel out, you have to unclip the power plugs (one at the top and two on each side....you have to really squeeze your hands in there in awkward positions to pull it out. Once that is done you can pull the whole thing off. There'll be a couple of clips holding the whole thing together in several layers, so unclip and you'll figure it out. When you're able to get to the actual fuel/water temp and speedo/tach displays, flip over and there are silver tabs that have to be bent straight in order to pull out the display dial units.
