Hood Scoop and FMIC?

I get confused when i see a hood with a scoop on a subaru that has a front mount intercooler also installed. Is there really any benefit from having both or is it just for show? Any feedback

Fresh air to the engine bay. That has to be good for something.

The best would be to convert it into a functional intake scoop by fabbing up an airbox and appropriate piping to the turbo.
