Thought I'd share, got a new hood scoop delete. I was worried it'll look to evo'ish, but actually it doesn't. :eyebrows:

bpang1 03-26-2008 05:28 PM

I like it...good stuff.

Wish I wasn't too cheap to buy a FMIC and a hugemongous turbo.

Island Style 03-26-2008 05:52 PM

Very nice Dan...
KS-Tech?
^^^^^ Yes, fitment is A++. The scoop aligned itself perfectly into that indentation and does not pop up anywhere from being uneven or from poor construction. The delete takes advantage of the entire open surface area of the hood. When looking into the mesh, it seems the rain would hit the transmission area primarily and not hit any vitals (i.e. battery, sensors, turbo). I'm happy ;)

Yeah Jon, when I talked to Matt (KS Tech, btw he's the owner/ fabricator) he mentioned he was in the proccess of finishing the deletes for your type of hood.

Bran808 03-26-2008 07:30 PM

Looking good Dan! I wish I had the OLOS to go front mount, but ahh, I guess I'll just have to stick with my STi scoop.

Ditchhanger 03-26-2008 09:11 PM

it looks great...I was thinking of going with a front mount and getting this, but I'm afraid that the front mount will mess me up at SCCA

How would it mess 'ya up? I always thought it'd be better 'cause there's more intercooler exposed to Mr Air and whatnot. Then again... I don't work for NASA and whatnot.

TSNWrX07 03-26-2008 11:51 PM

d@mn when I saw the first pic I was kinda iffy, but after lookin at the other pics, I think it looks sick

kolohe_04sti 03-27-2008 12:00 AM

when i went with a front mount the turbo lag was pretty bad on the stock turbo (vf39)... well to me it felt pretty bad... i hated it...

nice scoop delete dan, i gotta see this in person!

Latka 03-27-2008 03:01 AM

Ahhh... ok. I didn't even think about that. More space to fill up and all that.

the lag aint that bad but wit how tight our courses here are it wont help thats for sure... for everyday driving nothing dropping down another gear wont help ;)

yep there is alot more pipe to pressurize so it takes longer to spool :D

With the right kind of tuning and depending on who your tuner is, you can lessen your turbo lag, Ryan tuned my UTEC so i got faster boost response at a lower RPM. You can probably get your low end to be more aggressive also. :D

04sleeper 03-27-2008 03:34 PM

^^^yup!! after my tune it spools just as fast if not faster than with the TMIC

surfaboi75 03-27-2008 06:43 PM

Ya when you think about it, it's a better design to have air flowing in the front and out the top, cuz u don't wanna be forcing hot air down with a top mount right? hot air rises, let it rise out the hood like the evo :)

Nice. I miss my suby.
