I posted earlier about wanting an Sti hood on my RS but I am wondering if it would look incredibly stupid if I was to just buy an Sti hood scope and mount it on my RS hood??? Instead, I could spend more on performance parts. The reason I say this is because Im assuming it going to cost over $700 atleast to find a factory Sti hood plus painting it to match my color. Any ideas/feedback about how it would look or if its even possible to mount...

 

how would you mount the scoop on your hood? seems like if you went fast enough it'd rip right off since it scoops the air in, but then it has nowhere to go

 

Seems silly to me. I say skip the hood all together. There isn't any reason to spend any money on a hood that isn't really going to serve a function. Save your money for something more useful. I just don't think the money is worth spending, just to look cool, but it's your car and money, so good luck.

 

yeah, I definitely didnt think about it ripping of which it obviously would at a higher speed... that kind of kills the idea.... well does anyone know where to look for factory sti hoods(new or used) besides the dealership

 

what color is your car? there are a lot of people with CF hoods that may be willing to sell their stockers

6+ months ago when I got my STi wing the guy said he was going to get a FMIC and an RS hood....I wish I still knew his user name so I could put you in touch with him, but just make a "WTB/WTT: PSM STi Hood" thread

i personally think its stupid to put an sti hood on an rs, unless you got one for a great price, me i'm putting a carbon fiber hood on my rs, i'll probably paint it silver too, but i'm building a sleeper, with cheaper insurance rates than a sti. cause i don't know about you but i'm being raped by my insurance

but the nice thing about an sti hood is you can get one the color of your car and that is alot better than the hassle of getting it painted!

 

yeah, it all depends on the price really because I know that if i buy a CF hood and have it painted then I am looking at what 1g? If i could get a factory hood my color for around 300-400 then I would definitely settle for that. Personally, I just like the look of the raised Sti hood...
