No true HID kit will allow you to use your existing bulbs. HIDs operate on a completely different principle of light generation from regular halogen bulbs. A kit will include a set of HID bulbs to fit your application, along with ballasts and possibly separate ignitors, depending on the particular kit).
As for cost the lowest cost kits are generally around $350-400 and it goes up from there.

yea H I D , high intensity discharge....there is actualy no filiment inside the bulb....just extremely hot burning gass. cool sh*t huh ?
im actually looking for a blue tint HID kit for my 98 2.5rs....i cant find any that are blue enough *shrug*

The set up comes with a Ballast: a module that converts the energy into a higher voltage and sends the current through the gas filled bulbs. Think of it as an amp for your speakers. This is how you get your HELLA BRIGHT lights.

Hmmm...interesting. The purple should only be due to the fact that the S2000 has reflector housings, but I guess they could have a higher K rating making it even more purple. I would think that a car manufacturer wouldn't sacrifice light output for looks, but who knows...car manufacturers are catching on that there's a significant market for people who care more about looks than functionality
