No true HID kit will allow you to use your existing bulbs. HIDs operate on a completely different principle of light generation from regular halogen bulbs. A kit will include a set of HID bulbs to fit your application, along with ballasts and possibly separate ignitors, depending on the particular kit).
As for cost the lowest cost kits are generally around $350-400 and it goes up from there.

MisterJung.com sells a 5500k kit for $ 369.00 shipped, comes complete with EVERYTHING. You can choose what color and brightness. 4500k-6500k( audi,bmw,benz 6000k and 45watts)

Go to the web, look up misterjung.com,..his kits come with Hella ballast and bulbs.

Supposedly the S2000's are using an exclusive PIAA HID kit. They are VERY hard to find in the states.

Hmmm...interesting. The purple should only be due to the fact that the S2000 has reflector housings, but I guess they could have a higher K rating making it even more purple. I would think that a car manufacturer wouldn't sacrifice light output for looks, but who knows...car manufacturers are catching on that there's a significant market for people who care more about looks than functionality
