Angry Help!!! Steering wheel is STUCK

I'm trying to take off my stock steering wheel but the damn thing is stuck! I tried to tug it off that didnt work, even with a little wd40 no progress. Has anyone had this problem? Any help is welcome. Thanks

Ralph

Ralph, I think you need a puller. Im not sure which one though, as I have never seen our wheels, minus the covering.

I had to use one to take off my wheel on my old cutlass.

Kastle posted his steering wheel swap at Scoobymods.com. He was installing a MY02 WRX Momo wheel into his MY99 RS, but his text and images might apply:

sorry dude, been looking for it for the past hour. I cant find it.

I know Napa, checkers sell it.

Another thing I would try would be to get 2 pieces of wood, or anything long enough, so you can pull on both sides with both hands. and put them either on the top or the side, of the wheel, and have your and your buddy pull. Slight mechanical advantage, not sure if it would work though. The puller would be the best though, sorry I cant find the damn thing!

1. disconnect battery and wait for 10 min. to discharge the airbag
2. take the airbag off by unscrewing the side bolts.
3. loosen the center nut.
4. DO NOT TAKE THE NUT OUT COMPLETELY. leave the nut on
5. Jerk the steering wheel left and right. I found it is easier to take it off by jerking it left and right rather than pulling it straight.
6. It will pop off. Now the reason you leave the center nut on is to prevent the steering wheel to hit your face when it pops out.
You can mess up your face if you hit the steering wheel...

it'll take patience. it is hard.

Can you imagine trying to explain that to friends and co-workers?

Thanks for the help guys! I got it off with a puller like Kawshon1 had suggested. I post pics later tonight. Again thanks.
