Hella 500 Fog Lights using stock foglight switch
has anybody done this? if so, could you possibly post how to do it with pictures.
i'm also looking for a correct wiring diagram for the foglight switch plug. i've seen like, 3 different ones with all different wire colors. please hook me up with the correct one for a MY00 2.5RS.

the only stock part i wanted to use was the foglight switch that's already installed on my car
i wanted to set it up like the person does in this post:Hella FF1000 driving lights w/ stock foglight switch
the problem is, the colors for the MY00 2.5 RS foglight switch wiring is different from that of the newer imprezas.
so i don't know how the heck to wire the new hella wiring into the switch.

Ok, so if i am reading you right, you want your fog lights to come on with your high beams. (it would be way easer if you just used the switch to turn your lights on or off with the fog switch, as you would only have to run one wire through the firewall)
here are the wireing diagrams for you car. i am not sure if you have DRL or not, so i will upload both.

thanks, that's the right schematic i'm looking for, with the correct colors...solved my wiring problem...
in actuality, i don't want my fogs on with the high beams, i'm just looking for the correct wires to tap to use the stock foglight switch...after comparting the 2 drawings, i can see that pins 1 and 3 go to the relay and are the ones i should use to connect the stock switch to the hella relay to make the foglights turn on and off
by the way, where'd you get those pictures?

*** question
I have these fogs on my truck and wired them with the supplied switch and instructions from hella.
Anyway, I was replacing one of the fog light housings (Hella 500) and incorrectly connected + to ground and - to + on one of the lamps. Turned on lights they came on shortly and then off.
Everything stopped working of course. I went first to the 15 amp fuse just after the relay and it looked fine.
Could I have blown the relay? Please help. Thanks a lot.

well, when you hit the switch, do you hear the realy "click" while putting the bulbs backwards is wrong, it should not realy matter, as it is just a standard bulb, it will light wither way. and becuase of the hella plastic houseing, it wont ground through there either.
So, first check the relay, then check to see if both bulbs work.
oh, does the little light on the switch still light up?

Ya the relay still makes the "Click", but I don't know if I ever had the light on the switch work. So no the light on the switch works. I have checked the bulbs "visually" they look fine.
Do you think My switch is bad?
Thanks for your help.
Aaron
no, if your relay is making that clicking sound, 99% of the time, its still working, and if it is doing that, then the switch is still working.
have you checked all the conections going to the relay? i konw sometimes when you put the relay back into the socket, one of the terminals just gets pushed out. theck all the wireing. and make sure all the conections are good.

Ya I unplugged/replugged all connections to the relay after it stopped working.
Just so you know When I screwed it up I tested the new light outside the plastic housing to see if it worked and this is when it happend.
I'm such a tool! Now I don't know what to do. Bulbs are fine, Fuse seems fine, Relay is clicking, Switch is making the Relay click. All grounds are grounded.
I'm going to try a new fuse. After that I don't know what to do.
Thanks for the replies Shane

yea, let us konw, when you switch the fuse out, if it works. if it doesnt, then you will have to manualy test each light bulb, then check the wiring again. i know it sucks, but the problem is there, and we just have to find it.
