Head unit upgrade on 2000 Legacy GT.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to take down the panel around head unit to replace stock unit. I'm sure there are screws that I don't see.... Thanx for your help.

I believe the trim piece around the head unit itself just pulls off...most decorative trim in there (and most other cars) are held on by clips that let go when you pull hard enough. Of course, if it doesn't seem to come after hard pulling, stop

I've only broken a piece or two pulling panels, and it was never anything terrible.

On my auto tranny I had to remove the trim around the selector before I could remove the panel trim. Then the ash-tray also had to come out. Be careful though, I ripped the ash-tray out and broke a piece of plastic that supports the entire panel. The ash-tray caused all sorts of problems.

I don't know about your year buy with my 97 you just push down on the little peice of metal on the top of the ash tray and it slides right out like butter.
