So to start off, I'm completely ignorant about anything electrical, but I feel that this should be within my abilities. I have 2004 wrx with stock everything.

About a month ago I tried doing the led swap for my cluster and hvac. It was easy to do considering there're tons of write-ups. Initially, only the fuel gauge and temperature gauge would light up. Also, I noticed only one led would light up in my hvac, and my stereo would only light up when my car was off, but in the 'on' position. And on top of all that the illumination adjuster wouldn't change brightness at all.

So eventually I tried different led's in my hvac and i noticed only a certain kind would work, and only when there was one of them. I tried the stock bulbs and they won't work either, so I figured I broke something. I checked all my fuses. Everything was okay.

About a week ago though, everything changed on me. I started my car up after work around 11p.m. and noticed all my cluster lit up except fuel and temp, and now my stereo light comes on. Even the illumination controller works.
However, now my hvac leds only come on when my head lights are off. Same with my fuel and temperature gauges.

So I assume all this information means nothing to most of you, but what I really want to know are my options. Should I tear apart my dash and try to look for something or should I bring it into somewhere? The only place I can think of is the Subaru Dealership. I live in Monterey. If I missed anything, ask. This is driving me crazy.
