GC8 & removing DRL for HID

GC8 & removing DRL for HID

I've been reading that DRLs are bad for HIDs. How can I disable my DRLs for my 99 Impreza (GC8)? I've read that the resistor removal in the engine bay is not correct or is this only for the new-imprezas? I've been running my HIDs for almost a month with DRLs, should I be worried about damage?

Best to ask your fellow Canadian Scooby owners about this one. Our GC8s here in the US didn't have DRLs so we're not familiar with the circuitry.
To answer the general question though, if you have HIDs it is a good idea to eliminate the DRLs completely by disconnecting the main control module, wherever it is.

The DRL module is at the right strut tower. Unplug the connector there and it should disable the drls.

On an '02 it is, but maybe not on a Canadian spec '99.

Thanks, I'll try that. I was curious since there has been so much debate about the wiring under the glovebox for the 2002--> models. I thought there might be something like that for the 2001 and earlier models.
