Fog light bulbs??

What bulb is on the factory 02 WRX fog lights? I did a search but couldnt find anything. I am looking to upgrade them and I dont really want a whole new fog light kit. Just the bulbs. What aftermarket bulbs are good? I want somthing bright not yellow looking like the stockers.

I'm pretty sure the fog lights come as an assembly. I don't think you can just change the bulbs, but I could be wrong.

I have heard of people changing to the Hella fog lights (don't recall what model) with good results. Do a search to find more.

Thanks VR. Anyone have any suggestions as to which after-market fog lights are good for a reasonable price? Links?

The bulbs are H3. They can be changed easily but you do have to remove the foglight from the bumper for access (3 screws). Unless you are planning to upgrade the wiring as well it's best to stick with stock wattage bulbs (55W). Higher wattage bulbs may damage the wiring and connectors from excess heat, also the reflectors in the lights may discolor over time.

Thanks Mulder. Do you know what the best 55W bulb that looks whiter and less yellow is?

That I can't say, I haven't changed mine. In general though you don't want to make the fogs too white or worse, blue, because this will defeat their purpose. You may not like the way the yellower light looks on the car but it is better for visibility in poor weather, that's why some fogs have yellow lenses or bulbs.

another important thing.

AIM YOUR FOGLAMPS.

They don't come from Subaru aimed very well at all.
The fourth screw is an eight millimeter. It's the upper innermost one. IF you turn in counter-clockwise (lefty loosie) it'll bring the beam UP and give you a much better field of view. 2 complete turns should be more than enough depending on your current setup.

oh, and don't touch the bulbs with bare fingers or anything oily.
