Exterior Paint
I have had my WRX which is WR blue for almost 10K miles and the paint already has more chips scratchs and blemishes than my truck with over 160k miles.
I don't understand where all these scratches and chips are coming from. It seems that if I hit a piece of dust to fast I have a new scratch, or if a bug decides to fly low on the freeway and kamikazie into my car he takes some paint with him.
I have read that the paint is crap, but is this something I should just live with or something I should be worried about.

It's something you will have to deal with, I have only had my car for a few weeks and i'm noticing some chips. Now i did have a real problem with my paint where I had to take it back to the dealership, I got these really bad spots on my hood after it rained. I washed the car twice to try to get the spots off. The dealership used the clay bar thing to try to get it off, but that didn't work, so they polished it out with some stuff. It left circle swirls not that noticeable but i'll get them out when i wax the car.
so in conclusion subaru paint = not the best
o well i didn't want the car for the paint!

I went to the detail shop at the subaru dealership in my town, and the got rid of a lot of the minor scratches on the paint with something called "xylene" or something like that. I don't remember the name exactly. Anyway, it's some kind of paint thinner or such that you can get from sherwin williams, or probably any other hardware store. The detailer just put some xylene on a rag, and swirled it on the scratch, and it just blended everything together to get rid of the scratch. He then waited a little while, and then waxed over it, and it looked as good as new.
