It's best not to try fixing them yourself as you most probably will end up making things worse. Don't be tempted by the "Ding King" gadget sold in stores either. Your best bet with dings and minor dents is to seek out a paintless dent repair professional (Dent Doctor, Dent Wizard etc.) and have them fix it. After PDR has been done on dings with no paint damage it is usually like they were never there. I've had many dings and dents repaired by my local Dent Doctor and have always been very happy with the results.
Look in your local yellow pages under "paintless dent removal/repair", also look for websites of the PDR franchise companies that will direct you to a local guy. Finally you can ask for recommendations in your local forum, try here and NASIOC.
