Diffuser?
What is a diffuser/splitter for? I see them on quite a few cars but am unsure of their purpose. And what are the advantages on one and two piece splitters? I would assume they have something to do with aerodynamics. And my guess is that the splitter smooths out the bottom of the engine compartment reducing turbulence. But a diffuser I have no idea. Because once the air hits the diffuser it is on its way out from under the car already. If anyone can explain the two for me that would be nice.
Thanks

diffuser smooth the air out from the bottom of the car and helps reduce the turbulance (negative pressure air) behind the car.
On a serious race car, it helps create ground effect which will give downforce without drag.
