De-badge and Re-badge -- a minor mod

I have an 06 WRX and I am thinking about debadging just the "WRX" off the trunk lid, paint it red (to match the red brake calipers), and then putting it back on.

My questions are:

1) What kind of sticky gum material can I use to reapply the badge and where can I get it?

2) I'm thinking about using a can of red spray paint and a can of clear coat for this job. Does anyone suggest something different?

Much appreciation for input. I'm thinking about getting this done this weekend.

You could try double sided tape...I'm sure you could find some industrial strength tape at a hardware store. Another option would be that black sticky tar stuff that seals headlights...I think its a called RTV. You can get that at any automotive supply store.

Thanks. A member from another forum actually pointed me to ebay for a badge that is pre-painted red, and comes with 3M double sided adhessive. If you or others are thinking about a replacement emblem (looks especially pleasing on white WRXs), check out the ones on ebay. About $6.

Thanks again.

i painted my "WRX" trunk badge black and slapped it on with 3m douple sided tape, took a bit of work with a razor blade to get the tape the shape i wanted but it's been holding strong about 5 months now. in all kinds of weather.
