I wanted to clear out the amber turn signals in the headlight assembly. I haven't taken the headlights out yet but I looked them over and I think there might be just an amber cover over the bulb. Has anyone here ever cleared out their turn signals? How did you do it and was it difficult? Thank you for any feedback.

 

Which model year are we talking about? On my 04 I believe there are just amber covers that snap over the bulb. there are also screws on the back of the light assembly to remove the front glass. there appears to be a rubber seal in between so it should be ok to access without risking leakage down the road.

 

I have a 2003 WRX.

 

Dont do it unless you plan on painting the inside of the headlight, I did it, and I had to break it apart with pliers and pull it out. It looks worse than stock, so I'll be painting my headlights, and smoking my tailights this weekend..

 

It looks good if your going to put in colored bulbs. I have extreme whites in them after removing the amber cover and it reflects the blue (matches the headlight bulbs). I think it looks sweet. If your going to just leave the clear bulb, it looks just too white/plain.

I painted my headlights last night, its really easy but time consuming. It was about an 8 or 9 beer job, but it looks excellent.

 

hey beast, when you smoke your tail lights, any chance you could put up a pic? i like to do that or try some sort of blackouts on my if possible.

perhaps doing the same thing to my side blinkers?

I'll let you know. I'm trying to black out most of my car.

 

haven't cleared them yet, but I think I will tonight. I'm going to paint them too I think then try the reflectors on and off to see how it looks.

 

You have the same idea I had. A few days ago, I tinted my taillights and front side markers, and painted the headlight housings black w/ tinted blinkers. My wheels are already painted a dark graphite color, and with the blacked out lights on WRB, the car looks wicked, especially with 20% window tint.

 

I did the headlights on my '04, painted black and kept the reflectors for the moment. I'll post pics shortly...

 

I've done the headlights on my '04...just too lazy to post pics. If I get up early enough I'll take pics and post. By the way I used the same procedure as on the scoobymods page - just different shape.
