Carbon Fiber Repair?

So, my brother hit my carbon fiber hood scoop with a football today. It cracked the clear coat but I dont think it damaged the carbon fiber. Any suggestions? I am not trying to drop $800 for a new hood scoop, so any help we be great! Also, does anyone suggest any particular hood pin for a CF hood?

if it really is just the clear coat that's damaged, and not the resin or the weaves, then it can just be sanded down and spray a new clear coat on it. if you've got a spray gun and a few hours to kill one day, you can even do it yourself. painting isn't really that hard to do, it's just kinda time consuming.

if it is the resin or the weaves that are broken though, that might be a bit more involved. i've heard (note: HEARD) that sometimes if the resin cracks, what you can do is just inject some epoxy into the cracks, let it dry, then sand it flat and it'll come out okay as long as the crack isn't too big.

then again, that's just something i heard. i've never actually seen only the resin crack on a carbon fiber piece though, so maybe the person who told me that was on crack!

Yeah, I am StupidDent. Let me know if you want to have me take a look. We can always try a small area. If you like the result, I'll continue, if not, that's fine too.
