carbon fiber hoods... safe?

carbon fiber hoods... safe?

my friend told me that carbon fiber hoods are not too safe when in an accident. something about it shattering or not shattering or crumpling. is this true? also where would I get a good carbon fiber hood from for my 03 wrx. im in frisco.

The hoods will shatter, but if you're depending on the hood to absorb the bulk of the impact then that would suck. I'm not sure what kind of "safe" you're talking about though, as your windshield should be able to take some of the shattering CF, in addition to the shattering plastics and crap coming off the other car. If you're talking about safety to people around the accident, then yes, the shattering hood will tend to put out more shards of crap that can hurt other people.
