carbon fiber air duct

does anybody have this or knows what's suppose to do?

It sucks some hot air from the engine compartment. No I do not have one.

Car Info: full race 02 Prodrive widebody with 2.5 Cosworth

I don't see how it can because there is no opening from the engine bay to the fender well where the vent is.
