i cracked mine during the winter, it will cost me less to buy a new fog light kit from subaru at $160 and put them in myself(15 minutes tops) than it will to get it repaired/replaced by subaru. my car wouldnt pass inspection with a broken one, so i am driving around without any in right now, none of my friends have even noticed

2002 WRX (My Car ^_^)

Okay....! I just ran into this problem. (The one in the header)

The left fog light works perfectly. I turn the car on, and light comes from the left fog light.

Except the fog light glass took a rock and its broken.

Im going to have to replace the glass housing and now is a good time to invest in fog light cover.....

This information isnt too readily around where to find the glass assembly unit for the fog light. So... Ill keep searching...

I'd try an on line place and just order it that way. It's easy to replace. Then get some of these for your lights:

I have a broken fog light with Stongard! Warranty is only good when installed by an authorized dealer. So no more Stongard for me. Just got the screen STI-like protectors for ~$50.

If you look through the forums you might be able to find someone selling used fog lights that they pulled out for an FMIC install.

Thanks for the info Peaty! I think ill follow the advice PsiStar. He said he broke his after use. I wonder if it was a meteor that hit his lights

Ill try my luck with the fog light covers... Seems like the cheaper and more practical way to go.

Thanks everyone for the info. You guys at i-club rock. Very informative and helpful ^_^

I had the clip on type, I found those are good but during a snow storm they will pack with snow. The air gap between the lens and cover is enough to prevent the heat from the bulb from melting the snow.

I then switched to hard covers but found that they were a pain to remove. If I knew in advance that was fine I'd take them off but more often than not I'd be driving then hit fog and didn't have the time or think it was safe to get out and remove them. So far for me the StonGard's work well. I'm not sure what kind of rock hit hard enought to brake the lens with them on but it had to be huge. The material is pretty thick and looks like it can stop most things from cracking a lens.

Thick stuff:

Here are the hard covers that are clear:

Looks like Im going to pick up a fog light assembly (currently broken) + clip on fog protectors (see above post by peaty) + fog light covers grill mesh (via e-bay)

Those three should be a good combination against everything.

Except snow....
