Lightbulb bump, me too

hey fella, i've a blue one and i've got the same problem as you. i've used zymol and mequires (the cleaner wax) and that, i believe is part of our problem. the cleaner wax is composed of materials that are designed to strip away unwanted stains and marks on your paint, from what i understand, which works great to get rid of water spots and the like. but for that perfect shine, and one that lasts longer, i think we need something different. so i'd stay away from any kind of cleaner wax if you want something that lasts. the other thing is not to use cheap car wash soap. before, my wax only seemed to last one or two washes, now I use the mequires (8 bucks for a gallon i think, the orange stuff) and after two washes it still beads up like new. but i'm still searching for the best long-lasting wax out there. mequires has a bunch of other waxes, but i don't really know what all the numbers on them mean. thats all i got for ya, later... Bennie O.

I use Zymol (cheaper blue liquid variety) every 2 - 3 weeks. I use Meguiars cleaner wax every 2 months or so.

Question how bout Rain Dance???

anybody use that stuff? i found some at work but it was old and separted into water and crust, so i'm probly not gonna use it. it said something about cleaning too, so i'm thinking its most likely a cleaner wax, but dont really know.

who's into Mequire's like Chamberlin was into girls? there are so many different waxes they make with different #'s for names that might as well be Chinese to me...

I also had the dealer put on a sealant for the fabric and paint, they said the paint sealant was teflon and i would never need to wax the car cause it would bead up like new wax, guaranteed for five years. well, needless to say, it does not. this was a dealer thing, not really a SOA thing, so i don't really know if i can go back to him and get anything for his false advertisement??? i'm not the type to go try and bleed him for just anything oportunistic, but i think possibly the coating they put on lowered the surface tension of the paint to the point where the wax i apply just doesn't stick very long. anybody else experience this??? I'd be happy if he threw me a set of mudflaps or some sti parts or something for my trouble... haha

i too have heard Zaino is fantastic, i just never had the time to put in to doing all the required steps.

for longevity, i've always liked New Finish. its in a orange bottle and you can get liquid or paste. it may not be quite as glossy as a mothers or meguires wax but it lasts WAY longer. waxes will actually melt/evaporate in the hot summer sun. look for a good polish, that will last you longer.

Maguires gold class seems to work real well on my vette. I have found that mothers lasts much longer, even though it wont look quite as nice.

greeeeeaaaaat...

so thats two for mequires, two for mothers, two for zaino, and a few loners out there for some other stuff.

I dont necesarilly need super depth or wet look or whatever, i just want the rain to bead up and not to have to reapply after every other wash... maybe i'm askin too much, i dunno. until the last couple posts, i was goin to get some mothers, but i've never heard of the zaino stuff, is it super expensive, hard to get? and most importantly, does it last awhile??? c u later
