Unhappy Antenna Sucks!
i have a IS300 and i love the antenna on them. I also have a 03 Corolla and they even have the TT style antenna on them. I was wondering if i could just remove the stock antenna. Just paint the screws and put them back in the hole. And buy one of those antenna that they sell at Pep Boys and stick it on the back of the car. Will it still work? What would happen if i remove the stock antenna. It is so ugly and the people at the car wash wont even let me through with it without signing a release form.

stick on antenna? I want to rid my stock wrx antenna and use
that instead. much help very appreciated.

just go to a local autoshop like Pep Boys or Autozone. I seen a LED short antenna for under 20 dollars. But what i am worried about is that aftermarket antenna working. How does it work? Does the reception go through the antenna and travel on the car because this antenna doesnt come with any wires. Or is this antenna just for show? What if this antenna is for real, what do we do about the holes that are left behind due to the removal of the old antenna. The stock antenna is being held on my a plastic cover with two or three screws in them. So confused.....@_@

ill have to see it before i can comment. the holes you are left with can be fillin and painted at a body shop. probably like $400
total.

WOW!! 400 bucks to get couple little holes painted? damn. anyways, will the short antenna work without any wires?

uhh no... Those wires hook the antenna on the roof directly to your head unit... if you dont hook that wire up to the antenna then no signals are sent to your headunit and the antenna is pretty much useless.

yah, they need to paint the entire roof so that's about $400.

yep, need to wire up the antenna from your HU through the
ceiling liners. that part's easy. its just filling the holes which
will require a body shop.

screw the body shop.. fill the holes yourself..... its not that hard. buy some bondo, mix it up, stick it in the holes, then just sand it down smooth... then take it to the body shop to have it painted it'll be a hell of alot cheaper.

is300- i sent to autozone today but they didnt have that antenna
you were talkin' about. do you know the model number by any chance and who makes it?

hehehe, yah screw the body shop, but then take it to the
body shop. ?! hahaha.

may someone could make sort of the is300 style antennas that would look good in place of our antenna....
I think the cheapest way to go would be for some vendor to fabricate a new antenna for us that would still look good in the stock position. Maybe if there's enuf interest, a vendor would notice....

i dont see why Subaru didn't just go with the antenna integrated into the rear window like alot of the newer cars are doing. it looks alot cleaner and no one can mess with your antenna.

Installation is easy, remove headliner and run the antenna wire to the new Zendar unit. Drill a small hole where you want to mount, then your ready to go. They sell for $89.99. Just another option.
