About Removing Stuff Behind Doorcards

Well today i had no school because apparently the kids here need to make that one extra day count before they go to the voting booths but anyway, I got bored and decided to go tear things out of the car...just because.

I took the panels off and found my door condoms (the plastic sheets behind the doorcards held on with tar) to be falling off. The tar is smeared all over the metal and it's laying half ripped off against the inside of the interior panel.

So what I'd like to know is: can I just remove the plastic and scrape the tar off? I mean.... will it cause any problems in the longrun. I figure it's there for a reason but I spent 10 minutes each door wiping it down and trying to get the plastic to stick back up again.

Thanks a lot.
Chris

I don't really know what happens if you remove it. All I know is that it's a moisture barrier. I removed it and didn't put it back on when I sound deadened my door, haven't had any problem, but the sound deadener covers up some of the holes. If you wanna put it back, you could go get some 3m tape. GL

Hmm.. wonder why there'd be a moisture barrier in the doors, presumably to protect the speaker and lock/window switch, but not in other places with electronics and wires running along the metal.
Well out it'll go then.
