97 Legacy Outback....Headlights SUCK
Ive always wanted an AWD, so I finally bought this 97 Outback Limited. I like the car overall, but the Lightings REALLY sucks. I keep wanting to switch to the high beams. Is this a common problem/complaint? What can I do to fix it?

i have a 97 LGT and i live in colorado so i get a lot of rocks tossed at my lights. i tried a lot of stuff but finally found the answer. if you go to a hardware store or Lowes or Home Depot and get a cotton buffing wheel and plastic buffing compound then use a high rpm drill and buff out the lights. be careful not to stay over one spot for too long though just to make sure that you dont melt any part of the light. it took me about a half an hour per light but mine were pretty toasted. then to clean the compound off after i just used windex. good luck.
I found the upgraded headlight harness to significantly improve the lighting of my 98 GT, delivering a fresh battery supply through heavier guage wiring and new sockets.

I highly, highly, highly recommend Morettes. The harnesses included make it a plug and play connection on the 95-97 cars (all you have to do is ground out the relay and make one hot connection to the battery for the relay, easy stuff).
The light output is dramatically better; they're quite honestly some of the best money I've spent on the car.

Only downside is that they cost north of $500-600 and they can take a while to get ahold of (I waited 3 months) from most vendors.
