97 impreza mirror help

does anyone know if you can take the mirror housing apart? It has a line on it but it almost looks like you may not be able to take it apart.
thanks

If your mirror is anything like the later GD cars, I'm pretty sure that 'line' is nothing but casting flash and not an actual split in the housing. These plastic parts come out of a two-piece mold.

there is a screw directly behind the mirror .u have to take the mirror off to get to the screw holding it on the motor, the trickiy part is not breaking the mirror which is near impossible.

Is the mirror itself supposed to come off?
