Painted Tails...2008 STI(PICS inside)

After Debating about this for a while, I thought I'd bite the bullet today since I have a lot of time on my hands. So here ya go! They are done with 4 coats of Metal Cast red and 3 coats of clear Duplicolor. The coats where extremely fine like 3 strokes from like a foot away. I let it dry for 20 then added another coat. I finished them off with buffing them with a cotton rag for like 5 minutes each. This is also after a failed attempt at overlays. Here they are!

I guess I'm the only one that sees why Subaru didn't paint the tails. That bar of body color that is now left between the lights just looks awkward to me.

Maybe one day the look will grow on you. For some reason the way they come stock looks illegal! LOL maybe its just me, but red on the tail lights just looks proper

I'm doing my lights this weekend... I have a question for those who did it. Did you guys wet sand the lights before applying any paint on them? Or should i just got ahead and paint the lights. POST ASAP!

just clean them off very well and make sure they are dry. I recommend painting them outside but if you can try to bring them inside after sprayed so they cure better like room temperature this cold temp sucks and takes forever for paint to dry. or you could always blow dry them a little too.
