Oil Filter

Hey guys got my oil changed a week and a bit ago and noticed today that I'm leaking oil. Could this be from the oil filter not tight enough taking it back to the shop tomorrow. Also where is the oil filter looked all around for it tonight is it hidden by the plastic mount underneath.

the oil filter is under the plastic tray that is attached to the bottom of your car. if its leaking, make sure to tell them to put a washer on or you can do it yourself =]

If it's leaking after an oil change it will be coming from either the drain plug (overtightened and stripped, undertightened and loose, no washer/gasket) or the oil filter (loose or double-gasketed). It's also possible that they were sloppy and spilled some oil on the engine when pouring it in.
I hope you at least went to a real shop and not Jiffy Lube.

another scenerio could've been that when he took off the old filter, the old washer could've been left behind leaving you with two washers.

the best way to figure it out is to take of the plastic sheet and look

we can speculate for days (and its not rare for us to literally do that here on i-club) but that honestly wont provide any conclusion

Now for the answer..... It was the oil ring right above the oil filter lovely 50 cent piece to cause all this hassle.

there is no washer between the filter and the car. the washer sits between the drain plug and the oil pan. the filter has a rubber gasket that seals it, which should be lubed with oil prior to tightening, and now that i've finished reading the posts i can see that this was the issue.
