hours of searching and reading. need CEL help please. newbie.

CEL for EGT popped up. Have aftermarket straight through up pipe. Did the resistor mod triple checked my work. Did ecu reset, pulled ground from battery pushed brake pedal a couple times no brakes lights and no interior lights, key was out of ignition when i did it. Waited 45 min reconnected started the car and CEL still on, scanned it and it was the same code. Any help? Thanks.

Ok, that is the code that usually comes up with the sensor unplugged.
What resistor value did you use, and are you sure it's plugged into the proper place?

It should be 2.2K ohms (that's 2.2 thousand). 2.2 ohms will not work and will set a CEL for excessive EGT/fire.

Not sure if this helps at all....but that code NEVER went away on MY03 by using the resistor mod.....I had it removed when I got the engine managment. Good luck!

I also found it useful to bend/double over each of the ends of the resistor to give it better contact in the plug.

I soldered the resister the the old wiring harness. Just cut the sensor off solder it on, then secure the wire to the O2 wire. Looks like its natural and everything is still connected at a quick glance. 2 months no CEL

I used wire wrap to secure and hide the cut off wire for inspections.
