first mods on stock 05 wrx
To start off relatively slow,
.. With my first wrx, I want to add some low key visuals then move on to some performance and handling..
First, some rally armor mud flaps.. Of course.
Next, I think I want to order some pre-cut window tint. I'd like to do as much work myself on the car I possibly can, but I'm curious on the outcome of DIY tint.. I believe I can handle the job, just looking for a little advice on the matter.
I can't wait !

I'm asking for some advice on starting upgrades to think about and look into for the future.. Right now I am wondering about pre-cut tint and installing myself.

My $0.02 on upgrades...Upgrade in gradual progressive steps, so the threshold of your car and your ability to handle it develops evenly and naturally. Yes, I realize my last recomendation is most people's first, but it is a lot easier to learn and take advantage of a fun handling balance car than a ***** out fast one.

maybe i should make another thread if nobody already made one, but whats the most power we can get away with in cali and still be smoggable. I previously had basics, a tune turning up the boost to 15 lbs, downpipe mid and axle back, and injen intake... just basic and i passed smog. so anyone know if i can hit 330 whp and pass???

For upgrade advice look under the performance for the 2.0 litre motor, or check NASIOC.
You can hit your WHP goal but its going to be tough on the little 2.0
you will need
What you already have +
Bigger Turbo
Bigger Injectors
Bigger fuel pump
Larger top mount intercooler.
Tune.
Like I said that number will not be cheap.
If I had it to do over again I would have stayed away from the COBB AP and gone open source. Dont get me wrong I am happy with the AP and the features it offeres, but it sits in my glove box and doesnt get used accept to clear codes, and change tunes.
As far as smog goes as long as you keep your stock dp and change it out when its time to smog you should be ok.
Stay away from stuff that will hit you on a visual like intakes, big loud fart can exhausts, etc...
Everyone is going to have a different opinion but for power I think my reccomendations are logical. JxJlthr makes a good point. I went with rims tires suspension befoere I even started to think about preformance.
