Engine block degreaser in a aerosol can.

But from experience those suck, I consider them a waste of 5$ a can.
Instead go to walmart's automotive section (or kmart or some other mart) and get the purple bottled degreaser. It's in a manual spray bottle and cuts grease like nothing I've ever used before, and only about 3$ a container.

I used it on my motorcycle A arm and sprockets, spray, let soak a few minutes then spray with a hose. For the really stuck on stuff grab yourself a cheap brush with a decent handle that won't break, spray, soak, scrub.

It'll cut most grease in a few minutes.

I like simple green as well. I dont have documented proof of this but the other degreasers are not good on rubber seals and gaskets.

Simple green FTW plus your engine will smell all purdy.

I think there is a memo out that you shouldn't use simple green on aluminium parts. Is the engine block made out of aluminium? Check out their FAQ here Frequently Asked Questions

But as far as engine bay cleaning goes, I use Meguiar's Super Degreaser cut 4:1 being 4 parts distilled water. Then use brushes such as the EZ Detail Brush and tooth brushes for small areas. Also, I use a pressure washer to clean out the hard stuff, just don't spray directly on electronics/wire harnesses.

I did some engine bay cleaning recently... when I get my camera back, I'll post up the pics.

anyways, that's my spring's project....remove engine and all the s..t, ride my bicycle to work and paint my engine bay, the problem is, don't know what color. My car was originally JBP (black), then I painted my car Hummer White. I was thinking to paint my engine bay Gloss Black since I like how my engine bay is black (besides Subaru OEM engine compartment paintjob sucks, kinda flat)...what do you guys think???

If its really on there, you gotta have it steam cleaned. It will look brand spanking new almost.

You can rent steam cleaning machines with hand held attachments for like 20$ a day, at least out here you can. If you're in cali it will probably be more like 100$ a day haha...

We have a small steam cleaner that I'll be taking to my EG33 here in a few days, gotta get the engine cleaner as well.

Can I ask what electronics you cover specifically when spraying the engine bay? Like the battery and what else? Everyone says just cover electronics, but it seems like that its easier said than done. Just dont wanna **** up lol
