crank sprocket
My crank pulley went out a couple of weeks ago. So did the woodruff key on the crank. They were both worn down. Im not sure why this happened, since there has been no engine work except oil changes since, August. Well anyway, I got a new LW pulley and a new woodruff key. To install the new woodruff key I had to take of the timing belt, and then remove the crank sprocket. Well, heres the problem I'm having. How do you remove the crank sprocket. Everything I've read says wiggle it around it will just come off, well I spent two hours wiggling and even trying to get a screw diver behind it and I go no where. I mean It will move a little, but not very much. The key is not bonded to the crank shaft. and the key is also not bonded to the sprocket. From what it looks like to me is when the pulley went out it wore down and mangled the key, so now it seems like part of the key is not the right shape to fit through the keyway in the crank sprocket. Any suggestion on this would be great. Oh and I should probably through this in, I am doing all this on a 98 rs.
