Cold air intake stolen while in shop (method 4)...wtf !!

Thanks for the replies to my last post. I have a new issue. I recently found out that the cold air intake, located in the passenger side fender, was stolen from a shop I just had some work done at. Anyhow, I could see it was there before, but I also have my stock air filter box with filter inside. My question is, where did that CAI attach to and since its not there anymore, is this something I should be worried about? ...aside from having my parts stolen. It had both intakes when I boulght the car used. How and why would someone have both intakes there? Anyway...I'm so embarassed that I didnt do the research on this shop before I brought my car there. Its called method 4, in SF. The guy, Scammy Sammy, stole my ECU (thats right...the ecu), my car keys with clifford remote, and my cold air intake, and I had to tow the car out of there. I filed a complaint with the BAR already. Anyhoo...please advise on the CAI situation. Thanks !!

nevermind, in looking more closely, I found the hole in the stock airbox where the cold air pipe attached. In a diagram of the system, I saw there is supposed to be a silencer there attached to the air scoop. Can I leave it bare ?

This is absolutely ridiculous... I don't even understand how anyone could get away with stealing your parts. I would definitely follow up with BAR extensively because this is completely inexcusable. How did u know he took your ecu? He must have repalced it with another one?? As far as your cold air goes, just stick a filter on the end of it, or just throw in the stock box. As long as air is getting filtered it doesn't matter where the air is coming from. Sounds like you've been screwed over a lot with your whip man

No...he claimed he tried to flash it, but the battery didnt have enough voltage & froze the ECU. He said he sent it to Cobb to have them do it but I called & they never got it. Also lost my car keys. Yup, the guy is a real piece of work. BAR is on it.

dang... maximum shadiness. scammin' sammy... like sammy sosa?! lol... roids and a corked bat!

there used to be a site called revenge.com for these exact types of things... =)

a roommate who used to steal directly from us to support his undercover drug habits, got what was coming to him, for about 6 months straight.

I bet you this guys is a drug addict too

never got my $ back, but definitely feel better after though.

where exactly is this shop? have you "yelped" it?

I would hold a sign or just stand in front for a whole day and tell every single person that goes near there that it is a super shady shop and to go somewhere else. this will hurt his business the most and is completely legal.

He had my car for months. I get the car back...stuff is missing, car is banged up a bit. His work sucks. I wish I had done more research, but live and learn. Its my fault for going to a shop like that to save money. I have the BAR involved and they tell me they have a bunch of complaints...they might forward it to the D.A. He is a thief and liar of epic proportions. I cant believe he is still alive after what he's done to people. He even ripped off a cop for $6k !! I wish to god there was a good subaru shop that tunes in San Francisco.
