When I first learned how to do it, my brother and I would buy red ringed xbox's off craigslist for $30, fix them, then sell them for $80+

 

haha. I was doing that for a while then I got tired of it, and kids saying it was red ringed and then the disk drive wouldnt read anything. Scammers on CL. lol

 

Ive replaced a disc drive. A lot more work involved than just doing a RRoD. Cant just swap in a new drive. Theres a board on the drive that has a serial number in it and that number has to match up with the consol. So you have to unsolder the boards from the old and new drives and swap em. Took a bit of time.

 

I've got two broken XBOX's one wont make it past the xbox loading screen and the other one has an error code that is some sort of hardware issue, don't think it was RROD

 

thanks guys, i looked up the fixes and looks easy enough! now to find the arctic silver i have somewhere...

 

So I recently bought a small supply of the RRoD fix stuff and just throwing it out there. Take 1-1 1/2 hours to fix depending on if things cooperate.
$40 for the fix

Only rrod. No other repair
