Just figured i'd see if anyone has a large tank they wanna get rid of. the bigger the better, but nothing over 7' long and 2' wide. willing to pay fair price so lmk b4 i go buy a new one. thanks.

If you go to some of the smaller pet shops, like the one on Makaloa/Sheridan st...Modern Pets, you'll see for sale ads...I've seen some pretty nice, big tanks for sale.

If you don't get down there before Monday, I'll walk down there on my break and get some numbers for you...

but if i were you i would make my own, like an pentagon or octagon or something of your own design, its not hard to do just measure, get the glass cut and paste. then add rocks and fish!

 

a little more complicated than that. when your talking about 125gallon+ then regular glass won't cut it. even with thicker glass you would need somehting to hold the sides together and i don't have the tools to fab something like a wood frame. it is just cheaper and easier to buy one. i mean, where are you gonna get 5ft glass sheets from that are 1/4" thick? but good idea for a smaller tank. i've made smaller ones before and they work quite well.

 

You know Keeaumoku right?...If you are going towards Ala Moana Shopping center, and Kapiolani...at the intersection where Tower Records is...take a right on Makaloa St....go almost to the end of Walmart, start looking toward your left...kind of a hole in the wall pet store...but in the window, you will see lots of aquariums for sale...typically with all the hardware you would need to keep one up...

 

thanx man. i went there and they only had two adds, both were a bit pricey. i did however see some nice fish. i found one in the previews and it i just what i was looking for. picked it up and will have it in use tomorow. also picked up a dovii or wolf cichlid tonight and look forward to getting him huge. thanx guys again for the help.

I love fish and as soon as I move into a new house a fish tank will be my first purchase but why do you need a fish tank when you live in Hawaii? You live in the middle of a fish tank. When I lived in Guam I went to the beach everyday to swim in my tank. GL and have fun with your new toy

i need one cuz i luvz the fishes. i have already given aay one of my oscars cuz he got too big to keep. i have one more, a jardini, and i just bought a wolf cichlid that will grow to be 2ft long, so i need the tank space.

 

Just to let you know....when looking for used tanks ask and make sure there havent been diseased fish in there and ask why they are getting rid of it. if they say something like "I just havent had good luck with the fish in there" theres most likely disease in the tank

and dont get a plastic/plexiglass one since they hold disease pretty well

however after reading more of your posts now, I think you already know enough about fishes to know that stuff

cichlids FTW too...my turquoise severum(sp?) cichlid is the coolest
