WTB: Helmet...
Getting ready to pull the trigger...need a helmet for auto-x...there, I said it...
I am finally going to give it a try...but I don't want to borrow a helmet...I'm sure under the pressure of the course and the heat of Hawaii's tarmac, the helmets at auto-x that they lend out...probably smell nice and ripe...
Please, I don't need an expensive helmet...just something clean and smelling good...
pm me if you have one you would like to sell...
Thanks,
Brent

I'm trying not to read into this...
Spend some extra money on a quality helmet. I bought a pyrotech full face because it was cheap. I hate it. It's so damn uncomfortable. I've tried a couple higher quality helmets and they are so much nicer.

Med - Large helmet...
I wear a 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 hat...putting me in a Med to Lg helmet...depending on the brand...
I would rather pick up a used high end helmet than go new low end like was mentioned...
As far as pulling the trigger goes...Ryan...the hardest thing for me is getting things started...registering, getting a number, getting tech'd...etc...I think once I get everything in order, things will be ok...
I'm trying to figure out if I want to join SCCA first or try running the course first then join...what did you do?
I'll try and get there early...I'll have your Subylife shirt also so bring some cash for that...

I think if you get the weekend membership, you can use that as credit towards an SCCA membership.
As far as registering and getting a number, it's pretty easy. New racers can get away with using tape for numbers, but are urged to pick up magnets. Tech is pretty straightforward. Nothing loose or unsafe is allowed. The whole process goes by in a matter of minutes, then it's job assignments and RACE TIME!
Pick up a good helmet (must be SNELL approved) and be happy with the pimpness. I do fine with my $90 HJC helmet from Razor, but would like something a bit more awesome in the future.
Good luck, Brent. Hopefully, I'll be out there with you as well.

Josh pretty much covered all of it. Make sure your battery is tied down and nothing is floating around inside the car I'm sure you wont have a problem with any of that. Weekend membership is $15 and you can put it towards a full membership when you decide to continue, that's what I did. Only thing is make sure you bring your checkbook or money order because they don't accept Cash or Credit.
And since its your first time, you'll have to be there during first registration and you'll run later in the day so bring sunscreen and a hat.
Josh, I hope you can make it out too! I'm excited for the next event already, can't wait!
PM me the info for the shirt.

Hey Brent, I have a helmet if your interested. Its a Arai Corsair RX7RR helmet in graphite. Had this along time ago back when I SCCA'd with my Honda in '02-'03. Its DOT & SNELL approved. LMK if your interested.
